Dear Community,

We know that we are not the only Canadians affected by this health care crisis. We applaud all those health care workers who are on the front lines of this pandemic and we send our love and comfort to all those who are directly affected by the virus.

In light of the current COVID-19 outbreak and the recommendations made by Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and the Premier of Ontario Doug Ford, our office will be closed until further notice as the province has declared a state of emergency to contain the spread.

Our patient’s health is extremely important to us and we want to make every effort to reduce the risk of possible infection. We have made all necessary attempts to contact anyone with an appointment during this closure and we do apologize to all our patients for the inconvenience.

This virus is now considered to be a transmitted through community contact. Please follow these guidelines to reduce your risk:

- Leave 6ft between each other

- Wash your hands frequently for 20 seconds each time

- Do not touch your face, eyes or mouth

- Report to a public health facility if you have a fever, cough or sore throat

Please stay safe during this time and take every precautionary measure to avoid infection and transmission of this disease.

Thank you,

Dr. Witzu and staff

oral sedation

Oral Sedation with Our Chelmsford Dentist: Skip the Anxiety
— Not Your Appointment!

At Chelmsford Family Dentistry, we understand that many patients face various levels of anxiety during dental procedures. Whether you’re undergoing an extensive treatment, surgery, or are just prone to anxiety during regular checkups, we can offer effective oral sedation techniques and careful dental techniques to make you more comfortable.

Oral sedation works well for most patients and offers advantages and disadvantages over other sedation methods. For example, it is easy to administer; you simply swallow a small pill. However, you will need to have someone drive you to and from your dental appointment.

Oral sedatives do not provide pain relief, so local anesthetics are used to numb sensation in the affected area. Usually patients are so relaxed and comfortable from the oral sedation that they barely notice when the local anesthetic is administered. Chelmsford Family Dentistry has access to various sedation techniques. We can make arrangements for I.V. sedation and general anesthesia when required.

Our goal is to make you feel as at ease as possible and most of our patients experience great results so that over time they often do not wish to take the sedative any longer. They feel no pain. They are at ease during their dental appointment and often find that they do not need the sedation forever! They elect to stop the medication because their fear is no longer present. Our aim is to make your appointment as comfortable as possible for you so that your perception of dentistry becomes a more positive experience.
